Update with the coach:
 
Here are the 'talking points'
 
Thanks to all those who came out last Tuesday.
It helped me update my email list.  Jeff in the weight room has assured me that we
will be able to get into the weight facility starting in January.  It is a bit crowded right now.
Tuesday after school looks to be the best day. 
 
Those of you who are looking for some court time... I've been told that there are some courts
available at the NATC on Saturday evenings 6-8 pm. 
 
There is a great opportunity to travel over spring-break.  Several of the team are going to
the Newcombe Ranch in Texas.  I think that it would be a great way to prepare fot the season.
Check with Mr. Kobelt for the details if you are not already signed up.  Just make sure that you will be
back in time for the Lakewood Invitational in Cleveland by Saturday 4/4/09
 
Send me your thoughts on team uniforms now.  I would like some feedback.  Just remember that we will
have to get approval from the athletic office too.
 
I'd like to point out that there is a very competitive men's league at Olympic on Thursday evenings.
Often I need to find a good substitute player.  If you were to substitute in on late notice it would not
cost you anything.  Some of the players in the league include: Do Thai, Wil Theiman, & Kyle Gerber, There are
also several former division one college players. Most are 4.5 to 5.0 level.  You must have my approval in
order to sub-in but several of you would be eligible.  I've got one (free)spot open this evening at 8:00 pm
vs. Kyle Gerber.  Any takers?  It would be a great way to get a good match in a low-pressure situation.

 Just wanted to update everyone on the upcoming boy's tennis season.
I am still trying to finalize some of the matches.  However, I can tell you several of the
dates we have recently added/deleted.  A couple of you have already contacted me with
spring-break concerns etc...
 
Of note:
 
We should scrimmage at Pickerington Central on 3/25. (twelve courts, four teams)
 
 It does not look like there will be a 'New Hilliard' team up and running so the match on
our website 4/2 is not going to happen.
 
We should be in the Lakewood St. Edwards tournament again.  It is always held on the first
Saturday of the season at the River Oaks club.  That date is 4/4 this year.  I have not yet recieved
confirmation from Todd Ashdown yet (Lakewood coach) He still has to confirm that he can indeed get
the indoor courts on that date.  But, that is his plan.

Thanks to all those who cleared two of the courts yesterday.  That will get us out there faster.  Let's try to do the same thing again today (Wednesday).  We've got two bubble courts from 3:00 until 5:00 pm.  It would be nice to get our top eight there.  As soon as we finish I think that we should have another go at clearing some of the snow.  Be there at 5:15 sharp.  
 

It is time to start thinking about the high school tennis team. 
I need those of you who are playing to send me any changes in your overall size. I would really like to get uniforms something very similar if not the same as last year's set-up. 
That way, we could use last year's uniform as a backup. (saves on repeat laundry too). 
 We will begin practicing the week of Monday March 10th.  That gives us three weeks to figure out the line-up before the Spring-Break. I know many are missing over the break &  I have removed any matches during that week, however we are still playing in the St. Edwards Invitational on Saturday April 5th. It will be played at the River Oaks indoor club just like last year.   
The schedule should be posted on the school web-site now. It is complete with the possible exception of the match on Saturday April 12th (home) with St. Xavier.  (They will be playing against Cols. Acad. at 9:00 am and against our team at 1:00). My plan is that they will be fresh for the C.A. fellows and tired for us, but don't count on that.
